The Multifaceted Importance of Establishing Adequate Oversight of Gambling Operators

Abstract

In recent years, the gambling industry in the Republic of Serbia has experienced faster growth, both through the online market and through the network of physical facilities where it is organized. The introduction of a single information system for the supervision of the Organizer’s operations and the amendments to the legislation in this area have proven to be insufficient. he development and harmonization of legislation is only the basis for the establishment of legal business, which is necessary to be supported in practice through the work of the officials of the Gaming Administration. An unequal approach to determining the organizers of games of chance that will be controlled directly affects the creation of monopolies, unfair competition and gives the wind in the back of certain organizers to behave outside the scope of legal norms and thus cause new problems, both in the functioning of the industry itself and society as a whole. Establishing adequate control of the actions of civil servants among different state authorities should lead to the creation of a fairer business environment.
