This paper examines the electricity market in relation to capital market mechanisms, with a focus on
market participants, trading models, and the Serbian market. Based on a literature review and practical insights from electricity supply, it shows that limited storability and price volatility require specific mechanisms, including bilateral contracts, day-ahead, intraday, and balancing markets. The Serbian market combines regulated and market-based elements, with an important role for SEEPEX and the Energy Agency.
